Francisco “Ciscu” Perez Tamayo

Ciscu Tamayo - Teta

Teta

Barcelona, Spain

Francisco Perez Tamayo, or “Ciscu” to his friends, was a famous artist in Spain and founder of the Pop Stram movement in modern art of the 21st Century. He was a close friend to the Centro Cultural Montjuic gallery and is a dearly missed part of the Barcelona art scene.

Born in Artiés, Cataluna, Spain, Ciscu Tamayo’s advanced form of art became a unique part of many gallery exhibits including our own. He studied at the EAE Business School and just before his passing he helped to form the Matilde Tamayo Foundation for Contemporary Art.

His traditional art was vibrant and real while his exciting journey into more abstract designs shows us a surreal world of pop icons blended into a strangely dystopian and otherworld reality.

How Ciscu Helped Us

In 2019-2020 Ciscu Tamayo exhibited at the Centro Cultural Montjuic gallery in Barcelona. This included two exhibit events of his groundbreaking Pop Stram art, and one about Ophthalmology and Art. This included a nice poster he prepared with his MD eye doctor friend who can be seen in some photos of the gallery on our CCM Facebook page around Jan -Feb of 2020.

He helped launch Wentworth Norton’s ZOOM presence by holding the very first online event, and a contest of CoVid related art in June of 2020.

Since then, and thanks to his vision, Wentworth Norton Group has been presenting ZOOM Art exhibit events about six times a year.

“CoVid didn’t stop us!”

Ciscu Tamayo

We will miss Ciscu’s smile and warm friendship but his work will live on in our hearts and minds.

We highly encourage you to explore the amazing art he produced for over half a century. In fact, you can find many of his original works of art at our Centro Cultural Montjuic gallery in Barcelona Spain.
