David Freeman

At Peace With My God

Long Beach, California USA

David Freeman is an award winning photographer and artist who captures the reality of homelessness throughout Southern California. Homelessness is an issue that people from all backgrounds and corners of the world face every single day. It is an issue so real and dire, yet many choose to just walk by or actively try to ignore these men and women.

Being seen and recognized as human beings as a key part of addressing and solving the homeless problem in our communities. In the stark contrast of his photography these homeless individuals are shoved right in front of you. They can not be ignored.

As the Arts Council For Long Beach recognized, Freeman’s revolutionary work with the I Am Somebody project is an important part in solving homelessness.

He also works nearly 24/7 as an advocate for Housing as a Human Right. He also works with a team of 160+ people who actively want to make the world a better place.

Through his many years of service, and through his photography, David Freeman asks us, “How can we be better?”
